About us

A bit of history

Founded in 1996, A.L.V.A. TRANS is an international freight forwarder based in the center of Lisbon. The company is dedicated to the transport of Natural Stone, on pallets, slabs or blocks, and has been growing and adapting for these last nearly 30 years. Since its beginnings A.L.V.A. TRANS focused in the land transport of natural stone, maintaining countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland as its main markets.

Over time, our fleet has increased, new solutions were developed — such as the possibility of following an order in real time through the GPS service— and investments were made in the continuous training of the entire team be it language courses, training in Hygiene and Safety at Work and even First Aid courses.

To provide, and maintain, a quality service for almost three decades it is necessary to go far beyond professionalism: it is necessary to feel passionate about what you do. It is this same passion that, over these nearly three decades, has ensured the quality, dedication and professionalism of A.L.V.A. TRANS.

What makes success possible is the commitment of our team: a group of specialized professionals, fluent in at least three languages, who guarantee a quick and effective response to any client that seeks us out.

A Path to the Future

At A.L.V.A. TRANS we know that often enough “as you start to walk on the way, the way appears”. With a new image and digital presence, A.L.V.A. Wether through investing in training and corporate communication, this new path means a fresher look and a more proactive approach.

With the view of offering even more tailor-made solutions, ones fully adapted to the needs of our customers, we just started transportation by sea, in full load mode, in order to offer our customers new routes.

The Faces of ALVA TRANS

As Caras da ALVA TRANS

Vera Auer

Vera Auer is not a woman who likes to sit still, perhaps that is why her passion for logistics has been long-lasting!

With dual citizenship, Vera began her studies at the German School in Lisbon. She obtained the Diploma with Honors from the American Language Institute and the Diploma from the Alliance Française, making her fluent in Portuguese, German, English, Italian, French and Spanish.

Later, she was also able complete other qualifications, such as the Technical Direction Course at A.P.A.T. (Association of Freight Forwarders of Portugal); Training Course in Shipping – Regular Lines AGEPOR (Association of Shipping Agents of Portugal) in 2012 and the Personalized Training Course on Introduction to Shipping by A.P.A.T. in 2022.

Vera began her professional life at the Embassy of the United States of America in Lisbon. She first volunteered in the USA and it was upon her return to Portugal that she entered the world of logistics, a happy accident.

With a special attraction to big challenges, Vera Auer opened A.L.V.A. TRANS on her own on April 1, 1996. She had a typewriter, a telephone, a fax machine and a notebook.

As the entrepreneur that she is, Vera is continually learning and visits a number of Natural Stone Fairs annually, from Stontec in Nürnberg, Germany to Marmomac in Verona, Italy.

When not tied to her desk, Vera is a woman of the world with a special taste for sports. She appreciates the study of both the body and mind and therefore reading is also dear to her. Vera likes to surround herself with cultured people, especially those with a sense of humor. Traveling continues to be her favorite way to enrich herself.

In Vera’s own’s words, she learned to “discover the beauty and frailty of natural stone, a material we transport in good hands, directly to our clients. Of this exchange, exquisite works result”.

Florence Granier

Florence arrived in Portugal in 1994, having completed her academic career in her native country, France, with a further three years at the Goethe Institute in Lisbon.

For Florence, her interest in logistics developed shortly after her arrival in Lisbon. With professional experience in the trade sector, it was in Portugal that she discovered the logistics sector and its administrative mechanisms, invoicing and collections.

It was a year after Florence arrived in Portugal that she started embracing this role and a few months later she joined A.L.V.A. TRANS, where she continues her work with the same enthusiasm and dedication.

When not taking care of the bills, Florence is a lover of nature. Long walks, reading and the movies are some of her other interests. She also values great friendships, especially those accompanied by good conversations.

Rosa Calado

Rosa Calado took a long journey to reach the world of logistics. She started by choosing to study Anthropology, but ended up graduating in Political Science, at ISCTE.

Her professional curriculum includes experience in Public Relations and Customer Service, namely in the hospitality and Tourism sectors. Over time, her passion for logistics grew. Experience has taught her that what she likes most about logistics is the constant search for solutions, planning and the satisfaction that eventually comes with a job well done. It was at A.L.V.A. TRANS that she discovered much of her potential.

Since then, she has added to her curriculum, the Level A2 Diploma in German Language by the Goethe Institute, a Personalized training in Introduction to Shipping by APAT in 2022. She also attends the main Natural Stone Fairs in Europe, annual meetings of extreme relevance for all Exporters/ Buyers in the sector.

When not thinking about the best solutions for our customers, Rosa is a lover of languages, literature and movies. Politics continues to be another of her great interests, along with a great care for the environment.

In her free time, you can often find her by the sea.
